I just bought a new domain and installed using new wordpress 3.0. I have a difficulty when I want remove posted date on this new version. My objective is eliminate impression of outdated posting blog. So I have to delete a phrase like “posted on ..(date/time) that always appear in my index page and single post.

As I know, WordPress 3.0 has launched since April 24, 2010 and there’s some new features inside it. The another sites or forums show to us how delete posted with this step :

” Try deleting <?php the_time(’F jS, Y’) ?> from your single.php and index.php. “

When I searhed it, I can’t found word : <?php the_time(’F jS, Y’) ?> in both .php pages. I try to check my another old version wordpress blog, that is 2.9 version. That phrase is exist, then you just delete it and the case has been closed. But how about new Wordpress version 3.0?

I’m not a webmaster who understand about editing code on every single page editor. But finally I found the way how to remove posted date in my all pages in my default theme (twentyten theme). Follow this steps :

• Open Single post (single.php) and loop.php page on your WordPress theme editor
• Search and delete this phrase : ” <?php twentyten_posted_on(); ?> “
• Your posted date already deleted

If you use another theme, might be you have to use different way. The key is just found phrase “posted on” or “posted_on” or the another kind of used phrase on your single post, then remove a row of code.

Do you know that SEO is often talked about in terms of ‘onsite’ and ‘offsite’ Search Engine Optimization? The term ‘onsite’ refers to optimization done actually on your website like create posting article, niche keyword research, design template or something that directly and totally manage the contents of your site. While, ‘offsite’ can be explained by all the work you have to do without directly touching the site, for example Link building (backlink).

Both of them is totally important, but usually the offsite work has more prioritize to support us increase our site’s rankings at whatever search engine. Onsite Optimization

There are three key areas you need to focus on for onsite optimization:
* Title
* Description
* URL format

Yes, I know there are many other things you can look at like alt tags for images, sitemaps, internal linking structure etc. But if you just wanted to cover the most important aspects then this is it. The title is obviously extremely important, as is the description because this is like your little advertisement that will appear in the rankings, it’s got to appeal to the searches as well as be optimized for the search engines.

The URL format too can play a big role. With many sites now using dynamically generated pages (that is, the file doesn’t exist, it’s virtual) the filename often becomes a line of code that contains no relevant data. Using URL rewriting we can turn the URL into something more search engine friendly to include our targeted keywords. URL rewriting could cover an entire article by itself so I will look to cover it more indepth in a later article.

Once you have covered the onsite basics, you need to look to the offpage optimization because link building really is the most important part. Now optimization here is a little bit misleading, it is only the process of building links to your site.

However, not all links are created equal. You must ensure that the anchor text (the part of the text that is ‘clickable’) contains your keywords. If you simply create a link back to your website which says “Click Here”, you are essentially telling the search engines that your site is relevant for that keyword!

Now before you go full steam ahead and use only your keyword in every link you get, consider from a search engine point of view if it’s natural to get 100 links all with the same words as the anchor text – probably not! So mix things up, use your main keyword 50% of the time, secondary keywords around 30% of the time and other words like ‘click here’, ‘visit us’ or ‘more information’ the rest of the time.

I have personally seen websites be deindexed when people basically create link spam by using the same keyword over and over again, so be careful!

Bing now powers the Yahoo search results, it means that doing optimization for Bing, that also automatically optimize for Yahoo.

As we know Bing is Microsoft’s 3rd attempt at building a search engine that could compete with Google. At the first they had MSN and then Live, finally now is Bing. The existence of Bing has been able to get many visitors record like MSN and Live, this case has been proved that over than 90%  of  ten thousand visitors come from Google.

But, you must know that Bing still has hundreds of millions of searches every month so very potential to promote your site or blog to get high rank at Bing. So, take a short time to read this five useful tips for optimizing your site at Bing :

First, On-page Optimization
It so very important to use valid code on your website (run it through a code validator), employ correct redirects, have no broken links and used static pages where ever possible – which means you are going to need to rewrite those URLs if you are using a dynamically generated site. Bing also gives preference to title and H1 tags, so make sure you use them in your site!

Second, Build Quality and Relevant Backlinks
Relevant means the keyword. Bing apparently tries to determine the topic of a content by picking up topic specific keywords. Build quality backlinks means get link from high rank of website and relevant backlinks means have similar topic of content between your site and others. Both of them is important points to get attention.

Third, Webmaster Center
Just like Google, Bing also has its own Webmaster Center, a system or place where you can submit your site. Bing will give information if found any problems during the process that its robot encounters. The problem such broken link may can be occurred because of large file size. As I know, Bing loves small size one. Bing Webmaster Center can help you to find out the sites has found linking to you and reversely, the sites you are linking too. If your site have quality topic specific link then you can check it.

Fourth, Site Content
The king of a website is its content. Bing apparently like all kind of content like text, videos or Flash. SEO teach you that website content is more optimize if consist of at least 300 words. It would be better if you can create quality topic with more than three hundred words per posting. It’s also important that you have to focus on single topic because Bing doesn’t like a variety of topics. This statement already explained through their webmaster guidelines.

Fifth, The old of Domain
A domain which has been used from long time ago or we call it as ‘Old Domain’ is seems more valuable. Bing may thought that the old domain has more trustworthy than the new one. So, this factor is being one point consideration to hunt some expiring old domain from any providers to optimize your site position at Bing.

Those are five tips to get good position at Bing. Simply mentioned but not simply to act. But you don’t have to be worried because if you have very usual at Google, you also can do easily for Bing. They seems have similar working system.

The easy way to be success is have motivation to learn from the expert person. Like Adsense, so many persons have been fail because they won’t try to make some experiment or learn from person who has many experience than us. Kharim Tomlison, a blogger from Jamaica who just posted an article about how to increase revenue of Google Adsense through this site is really give smart tips to make it real. Initially, he found a problem related to Adsense.  When a website have so many visitors but its Adsense is very low clicks. It means that the website only resulting low revenue or we can say we have failed to generate income from Adsense. There’s something doesn’t work optimal.

He’s not recommended to place ads on top side because visitors don’t like to be greeted with dominant ads at the first sight. They need to read or view your content, not ads. So it better to place Ads on side bar.

Layout type and Color
You can see varying layout size offering by Adsense, but he recommend you to use 300×250 and 728×90 unit because they have potential click by visitors.
And talk about color, we have to match with our background and common link color in our website. This is such a trick to hide it and make uniformly color of your theme site.

For over three months ago, I had a plan to buy a domain then sell it by using website selling service provider as media to promote my site. I’m really not expert in making a website. I just have enough knowledge to install wordpress and do some modification on it. Wordpress is a simply platform which everyone with easily use and choose available feature to customize their theme or template, choose ton of free plugin in internet and place some code inside it. It’s really simply and we able to understand and install it in short time.

Based on my little knowledge, at the time I decided to buy a new domain. My aimed is get a good profit from this my  selling item. I choose flippa.com as the provider. At the first, I bought a domain  (.com) from godaddy with total price $10.84. Then I set a domain servername into my host. It was very quick to finish the process. At the time, I was directly install wordpress through my host facility. Then I choose free simply template from internet and start to post a unique content. In three days, I just created six unique contents. After this my blog indexed by Google for approximately 1 weeks and I install wp-robot plugin to run autoblog feature. There were more than 30 articles already posting at the time and I thought this website was ready for selling.

Trough flippa.com, I promoted my site. I have to pay $19 for listing on it. Well, I set my listing auction for a week and priced $294. The auction start from $1 and had a reserve price (minimum deal sold price) $70. Day by day my auction was run but there was no bid. My watch list number only three. It means just little number of people interested to my site. So sad. At the last time auction, there 2 people bid the auction only $1 but I decided to deny it. If me accepted to the first bit, might there were another higher bid for the other people but I won’t take a risk and let my site unsold until the end of auction.  Bad first experience at flippa.

After this, I evaluated for my unsuccessful selling website. I thought that my site was too very simply in design and set it with high price, too expensive and people want more for paying almost three hundred bucks.  Then I decided to keep manage my site. I changed its theme to seem better than before, more eyecathing for an autoblog website. I have no desire to sell this website again and let this site automatically auto run. I won’t to focus manage it because I have another one to manage. No time for it. A month…two months… and no bucks resulted from this site. Until one day, someone email me to private message on flippa and he said that he interested to my site and asked ‘are you still want to sell your site? Let me know’

Surprise! I replied it and answered YES.  At the time I offered my autoblog site that can  said unused website because I already let this auto run by its plugin system. I just offered my site $99, a reasonable price for current time. He agreed and at the time he transfer into my paypal and I was directly process to transfer the domain and content into his own domain and hosting account.

Lucky, event though I got the profit far under my initial target, I successfully got it without any extra works. Two months sold, very long time but it better to get the result even just little bucks of profit then nothing. From my experience, I would like told you, just thing optimistic. Through a little changing with some adding value you would be get a buyer. Don’t work to hard just create smart idea to make your product looks more innovative and eyecatching. Remember, It better get a profit even just a little than you get nothing and lost invested money.

The valuable lesson in doing a business is learning from successful people in how they thought, making a concept and run it according to what is already planned. Making a great concept and great plan is difficult things to built. But, whatever your business and how hard it, you can learn from how “Old Person” already done it.  The Old Person here mean anyone who already have many experience and ever got a success in such fields of business.

Thinking how difficult you have to finish your business concept and plan, how hard you will start a business and how stressed you have to solve the future problem. You might be a brilliant, clever or high talented man. But sometime you need an Old Person come closer to yourself and give a wise business advices that never thought before.

Every business need to make some decision. If we are new in a business, often we confuse how to make right decision. We feel it so difficult and need many consideration, but might be for the other people, it so very simply case and they can make a decision quickly.

Through friends you would be grow up your knowledges, you can share many business ideas, business solving and create new business together. Respecting to one and others is a must. Whatever their profession, even though  they just a gardener, janitor, servant and etc., sometimes they are smarter and have more experience than you in certain field even more, we often need them for completing our job or business. Sometimes their sharing informations or advices are better than our thought.

The other point is you have to be a humble person and learn to excite make a friend with everyone. You don’t need to be the smartest person in the world but you just need how your friend, partner or your network will support and back up you in run your business. You can filter which person really have good competency related to your business field, which person you can trust to give you good input regarding to your plan, which person you choose to become your guider or a friend for learning.  Or who are the person that you deem worthy of being “Old Person”. You will easily find it if you have so many friend  from any profession background with varying  successful business level. After that, if you got the successful thing in the future even just a little success, you have to give thanks (appreciation) to all person behind you who already give good contributions even just a little one.
